Getting Started!

We know that getting going with a new database can be somewhat daunting! Follow some of these basic steps and you will be up and running in no time!

Importing made easy!

Get a brief overview of how to get data into your program!

Enter the Basics

After opening up the program, be sure you enter whatever is immediately asked for, such as "Language", "Branch" and of course your Registration Code. This will get you started, but here's some more things to enter to get things going:

  • Go to "Circuit Info" and enter your name, address and basic circuit information such as the circuit number etc. There's no need to enter "Sub CO" information or other personal information just yet. However, go to the "Settings" tab and enter your jw.org log in information and this will allow you to access your domain.
  • If you haven't done so, select the stationery you would like to use, by going to "Settings" and select the stationery you would like to use. You can easily change this later any time you want and all your personal information will be included on the letter head.
  • If you want to autofill the web site, then next under "Settings" install the plug-in. Click the button to install the plug-in and follow the instructions in the dialog boxes. Remember, after performing the installation of the plug-in you must close down the database AND FileMaker or your run-time solution completely and then restart the program. Now the plug-in should be operational when you need to post data to the website.

If you have no data to import

These instructions will help you get going if you have NO data to import from another source. To make it easy, just enter, for now, the data that you really need to get things started and worry about entering the rest later.

  • Go to "Congregations" and enter a congregation name, city, and state and the congregation number for the week you are currently going to serve. This will give you the basics for now!
  • Next, go to "Contacts" from the "Directory" and enter a contact. Make this one the Contact record for the CBOE for the congregation you just added under congregations. You should see his congregation in the drop down list on his Contact record. Enter his name and basic information if you desire.
  • Next, go to "Routing" and add the week you are currently in for the congregation your just entered. You can add dates later to the end of the weeks in the database, or enter them manually. Remember, Congregations will only show, if it has at least ONE member, such as the CBOE. This connects the tables in the database. Now when you go to "Congregation Visits" this congregation and the visit week with it

  • To import from another user of "Circuit Data On The Go!" simply open your program and go to Directory>Settings and click the last button on the bottom and then click the button that says "Import Data from Filemaker Pro and drag in the other brother's database and import. Remember to change any personal data to your own if it gets changed, such as your address, etc. Make sure your user registration number from your program stays with you in your program, meaning you may have to change it back after you import from another brother's database.
